Michael was born in Alexandria, Louisiana and grew up an Air Force brat. The Air Force had his family moving around, starting in Louisiana, Panama in Central America, and Kansas. His family spent time vacationing in Colorado which is where his love for the state began. He graduated with a degree in Psychology from Louisiana College. Driven by an inherent desire to help others, he spent several years post-college working with at-risk families and homeless children. Pulled by his passion for helping people, Michael chose to move into the financial services industry in late 1999.
For almost 18 years, Michael helped build one of the most successful financial planning and wealth management firms in Colorado. After making the difficult, yet rewarding, decision to go out on his own, he decided to found Tandem Financial on the most important lessons learned during the past 18 years: treat people like friends and family; put others needs before your own; put family first; and work with co-workers as a team to collectively serve clients and their needs. The name Tandem Financial really derives it's name from its core mission which is to work together, in tandem, with clients to help them achieve their financial goals.
Michael is married to Sue, who grew up in Janesville, Wisconsin. His past is deeply rooted in the South, the SEC, and New Orleans Saints, which is in direct conflict with his wife, who is a Green Bay Packers and Big Ten Fan. He and Sue have three children: a daughter Eleigh born in 1997; a son Evan born in 2009; and another daughter Sadie born in 2011. His oldest daughter attends school in Kansas and his other children currently attend elementary school in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Michael enjoys many of the outdoor activities Colorado has to offer, plus time in and around the ocean. He's recently getting into fly fishing and luckily discovered Peloton shortly before Covid-19 shut down gyms. His peloton tag is mfranklinks for anyone who wants to follow along and join in some rides together.
Ryan is a rare Colorado native, born and raised in Arvada. He attended The University of Denver and earned a degree in Finance. Since 2000, his financial planning skills have been honed by doing thousands of plans for clients. One of his true passions is making all aspects of the planning pieces work together in tandem and seeing a successful plan executed over the years.
Ryan is a CFP license holder since 2005, and has over 20 years of industry experience. Having worked for another wealth management firm for nearly two decades and building them into a world class financial planning and wealth management firm, Ryan co-founded Tandem Financial with the focus and goal of helping clients, regardless of their net worth, meet their financial goals. Ryan can now do this for all clients as Tandem Financial does not have account or net worth size requirements.
Ryan is married to Jamie, also a Colorado native and they have two boys, Brennan and Logan. Jamie works at Children’s Hospital Colorado in the Learning Services Department as a learning specialist. Ryan loves being with his family, playing Lacrosse with his sons and spending weekends in the mountains skiing and enjoying the outdoors. Ryan’s favorite vacation is to the beach where he can enjoy the ocean and sun!
Cindy Malone was born and raised in North Dakota. After college she moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming where she worked as a Respiratory Therapist. There she met and married her husband, Mike, and started a family. In the early 80’s, the Malones moved to the Denver area.
In Denver, Cindy began working in the insurance and financial industry, gaining experience in health and life insurance, medical claims and training. She ultimately gravitated to client services, support and office management. As an Administrative Assistant, Executive Assistant and Office Manager, Cindy has extensive experience working with advisors and their clients, providing a wide range of services.
Cindy’s favorite activity is spending time with her two children and three grandchildren who live nearby. She also enjoys golf, running and time spent with family and friends.
